BCIS Sucks Big Time

Repeat after me, BCIS people are fucking assholes.

Now, it seems they have lost information from their system of the approval of my application from 1.5 years ago.

I think I need to contact my Congressman or Senator.

POSTSCRIPT: That missing data has to do with my status in the US. So I am mighty worried.

  3. I’ve heard other stories like this, where the information somehow gets “lost”. I really hope this gets straightened out for you quickly!!

  6. Thanks, everyone. I am hoping it would be sorted out and won’t create any problems for me while travelling.

    Jonathan: Thanks for your offer. I think I’ll give the BCIS a couple of months to sort this out. If they don’t, then I might look for a lawyer. I’ll check with you then.

    It is actually pretty strange what has happened. The BCIS officer I talked to said my application status on their computer said “Archived” instead of “Approved” or “Rejected”. However, using my receipt #, the online case status web page tells me that my application was approved 1.5 years ago. So I am not sure what’s happening. Hopefully, now that they know there’s a problem, they’ll fix it. In the meantime, I have proof of my status which will be valid for a few months.

  7. I feel your pain. I applied for a re-entry permit for my wife, a PR, with the INS before leaving for Malaysia. Now the INS doesn’t even exist! Who’s working on it now? How long will it take? Is the form even the right form? We want to come back in October, but if we’re not holding a re-entry permit, they could confiscate her Green Card at the border and God knows what else. As much as I was happy to see the INS go, can somebody tell me how anybody is being served better by the BCIS? Same sh_t, different acronym, near as I can tell.

  8. After a long time of reading this blog (including of AL Muhajabah, Bingregory and The Head Heeb) , I am finally leaving a comment. I’m not sure if this is a right thing to do and am pretty sure Zack would go “Go, have your own blog!” 🙂 . But, I am just going to give it a try even if it means embarassing myself online (rollseyes)

    This topic touched my heart personally .I’m sure anytime soon, I’d prolly be put in the hospital due to stress breakdown.

    Just came back from the U.S Embassy in Malaysia. Was delievered with a not so good news that if I were to join my husband (who is an American citizen) , I could not take my mother (who is dependent on me since her illness) . Unfortunately, I can’t clone myself to be at 2 separate countries.

    I better stop before I start writing sad,soppy story. If anyone knows of any hidden clause or anything whatsoever, do tell.

    lin: Thanks for your comment. I sympathize with your situation. I would suggest talking to an immigration lawyer to find out if something can be done.

  11. My husband has been waiting eight months for a work permit we have been married since aug 1st. If we did not have an awsome family here that was helping us with bills, I think I would have killed myself it has been a hellish nightmare. There is no one to call the 1-800 number is a joke, everyone you talk to has no answers and help. I think they take your money and crush peoples’ spirit. I will make it my goal in life to bring them to some kind of justice.

  13. They are very slow, but what is the reason. Is the volume of applications too high, is there procedure time consuming, are they trying to be slow to limit the number of applications processed? There must be a real reason, other than they are assholes and lazy government workers. Anyone know the real reason that they suck?

  14. Hal: There are multiple reasons.

    • They are incompetent. In my case, they just plain messed up and took 2 years to correct it.
    • There are not enough people working in USCIS.
    • There is a big backlog of applications which creates its own ripple effects. For example, if someone applied for a green card, but it is taking too long to get it, he is eligible for work authorization and travel documents (advance parole). He might need these multiple times during the processing of his green card because of the delays there. So the paperwork and number of applications increases quite a lot.
    • The September 11 related background checks have created their own delays. The background check “expires” after some months, so instead of 1 check for the whole green card process, you get background checks for every part of the application process.

    There are probably more things I am forgetting right now.

    I would like someone to give me an idea please.
    I am a muslim from Pakistan and married to an American born for more than 2.5 years and have a kid.
    We were interviewed in August 2004 and the officer approved my case verbally, stating that I will receive a letter in 30 days to get my passport stamped.
    It’s been more than a year now and I have inquired several times plus have given my second finger prints for background check and they still don’t provide me any answer… ie we are doing background check.
    I would like to know how long it can take and why it’s taking so long?
    Is it because I am muslim?
    Will I ever get one?

    Desi: It shouldn’t have taken that long. There might be some bureaucratic bungling involved. You might want to visit the USCIS office to find out. Good luck!

I have one thing to say!!! , i feel sorry for anyone that has to go thru any of the goverment offices, they all suck, and on top of that, they give us a 1-800- number, that according to a uscis officer is not even related to the goverment… so?, why are they refering us to this number to get info?. just tell us to go to the office,stand there for two and half hours so we can get some morron to tell us off, because we are not supossed to be there on the first place, and we need, some other million papers they just thought about asking, ten minutes ago, beacause of the ” terrorist “. ( that is the a great unswer, I got it, from one of the officers.)
    well if you have to go to them, god help you.

  19. I dont really undestand how uscis hire that kind people to work in their officies. No ofense but people who don’t know even to speak english. they are arrogants and nasty. They should first be trained and learn how to treat people….. between me and u…. an unhappy mizerable joke. Poor department of homeland security.

  20. WHAT IS A BCIS NUMBER? IS THAT THE SAME AS A USCIS NUMBER AND WHERE CAN I FIND OUT WHAT MY BCIS NUMBER IS? help please !
