Here is an article about gay Muslims from a fellow Muslim blogger.

For years, I had fallen into the trap of the haraam/halaal debates that often produce nothing but frustration and inflated egos (my own included). Though I still get sucked in every so often, I try to stay away from that kind of thing and take a position similar to Sulayman X:

I no longer care. The issue is really quite simple, and there is no need for endless talk: gay people are human beings with human feelings and needs, and spiritual needs too, and the love they feel for others is the same love anyone feels for anyone else. Rejecting or hating them serves no useful purpose. Just because some homophobic people get a buzz from hating gays and lesbians does not mean that Allah agrees with them.

[…]What I do know is that each of our souls has the capacity to distinguish between right and wrong, and that the meanings of “right” and “wrong” are subject to infinite conditions only God is capable of sorting out. I also know that my knowledge pretty much ends at the one-God thing, and my conscience won’t allow me to disregard or reject someone who feels differently than I do. Voices condemning homosexuals to hell are abundant, but those voices don’t seem to mesh well with the themes that rise off the page every time I pick up the Qur’an.

Whether you agree or disagree with the positions that al-Fatiha [a gay Muslim organization] takes, understand that it provides a safe space for those Muslims who identify as queer, and that is a lot more than one can say about the mainstream Muslim community.

That is a very important point. Compassion and respect for others who are different from us in any way, whether in religious doctrine or in sexual orientation, is something we need to have a lot more of in the Muslim community.

While we are on the topic of Muslims and persecuted groups, Hijabman talks about women’s spaces in mosques. He cites a Hadith [saying of Prophet Muhammad] where he appointed a woman, Umm Waraqah, to lead prayers and both men and women prayed behind her. I must say I was unfamiliar with this and have only seen rulings about women being allowed to lead other women in prayer. I can’t excerpt HijabMan’s post properly, so I urge you to visit his blog and read it in full.

While we are breaking taboos, Muslim Wakeup started a Sex and the Umma series of fortnightly columns which have featured some short stories. It is not everyone’s cup of tea, but the stories can be thought-provoking as well a good read.

  2. God has nothing to do with this… We do not know if God felt as if being gay is wrong or not! As far as we know there could be a nother part of the Bible that we have yet to find… That will give us those answers! Everyone deserves respect NOMATTER who they are or who they love… They are making the same commitments to eachother… Just as a man and women would!

  4. I am neither Muslim or Gay, and neither am I christian or any other religion. However, I have read all the passages I can find from the Koran and the christian bible and NO WHERE does it say God is ok with gays. It does say in very clear terms that God is not OK with gays and to put iut bluntly the bible says its an offence punishable by death and for certain the gay will be sent to hell.

    While the western and christian churches have bowed down to PC correctness and embraced gay rights (which is amazing considering what their bible says) I am actually happy that one religion is sticking to its guns on this issue and that of course is Islam. I believe Islam is right in this case. Homosexuals and Lesbians have become far to powerful a minority who have been given special rights over straight people. These rights mean a priveleged lifestyle for gays. Lets take the Gay Pride marches. Can you imagine staright couples marching naked saying its cool to be straight. of course the gay rights lobbyists would have these marches shut down in a second. This is what I mean about their special rights. In the UK when a gay goes for an interview they will almost always be given the job. If the employer doesnt they may very well find the company dragged in to court accuesed of racism against gays. This is a law applied when the gay person isnt even employed by the company, again special rights for gays. A straight person applying for a job has no such rights and even if they know they are being passed by in favour of a less skilled person they have absaloutely no rights of objection.

    There was a story recently where a straight man couldnt find a job for over a year. he was well educated, skilled etc but he was 42 (a very akward age for finding a job). In frustration he put on his CV that he was gay because he came across an article on a gay rights website that told its members that ALWAYS make sure the employer at the interview knows your gay because your chances are more than double that of a straight person. AMZINGLY but not suprisingly he was offered the very first job he applied for.then he was the likely candidate for the post despite there being many applications for the post.

    So, as a western non religious person I actually applaud Islams stance on this and I would like to see them voice their objections much louder. All my straight friends are sick and tired of having gay propaganda rammed down our throats. OK, yes we know you like to perfrom buggery and practice unnatural sex but PLEASE just get on with it quitely just as straights do rather than screaming from every rooftop how cool it is to be gay.

    finally in the UK the apologist spineless government have given gays the right to adopt children. THIS IS WRONG. gays have given up their biological right to have children. That is their lifestyle choice and should deal with accordingly. Two men adopting an infant boy is simply wrong, very very wrong. Every fibre of my being tells me this is wrong YET i am supposed to feel all warm and cuddly about this. Mark my words, sexual abuse against young boys from their daddy and dadday is going to be big news in later years. Gays make a lifestyle choice but straight people should be very aware what this actually means. They dont have sexual relations like we do. The whole sex practice with gays is decadent to its fullest and completely unnatural. For young gays its all about having as many partners as they can. Basically anal sex is everything to gays followed closely by oral sex, this is what it bolis down to. call me areligious fanatic or whatever you want but again every fibre of my being tells me that when a man puts his penis inside andother mans anus which is the place waste material is deposited and of course traces of faeces are left is a tottally alien concept to me. if it is to me I have a very string feeling t is for god as well.

I just have one question.. when Allah has created us and has created sexual feelings too then why does He not provide us with adequate outlet. if a woman is not married but craves sex, what should she do? if Allah cares so much abt us, why wouldnt He provide for us in this situation when our desires are human and so are all our needs in this connection. Why would Allah force someone to seek Haram since halal isnt available.

  19. well there are alot of issues which’r forbidden in ISLAM But in the concerned issue, which is about Gays,i’ll say that its a matter of frustation that some folksadopt that kind of ridiculous habbits.ISLAM is well defined Relegion..and there is a proper way of marriage with girls but not atleaat homosextuality.In our community you can find all kind of folk,Good & bad.The issue under consideration is i think a child abuse !!

  21. Sarah; Life is as just as you take it..Infact your attitude towards life, creation & Creator is what matters. Allah knows his creation well & has made perfect moral outlets for the whims & biological needs that He himself created in them. Having belief in the fact that He is more Merciful than 70 moms; He never forces any one to be corrupt. Everything over here is a test, you see. Scarcity of “adequate outlets” is a test..but not for those who just need “mere outlets”. Provision of lawful (Halal) means is granted, believe me..yet with a relaying delay..again a test of patience & loyalty of the creation towards their Creator.

    Once again, the reason for scarcity of adequate outlets is my attitude, your attitude; the system we have planned & devised to make our young generation morally corrupt, by not marrying them off in early ages, by not learning the moral codes; Divine revelation (Quran & Sunnah) ourselves & not passing it of to them, expecting just too much out of them, exposing them to hazards & in defense providing them with no stealth no shield..
    ..But the point remains; pay heed to the Divine morality within yourself..& u’ll know that there still are ways & means to retain morality with patience until Allah provide us with lawful sustenance (Rizq)..be it for fulfilling our hunger, thirst or sex..all means of testing..

The symbol of sex in islam is Muhammad, who maried with sixteen ladies and had 8 more without marraige. This is clearly mentioned in Hadith and ,muslim books. The history clearly proves about sodonism in islam. I feel sorry for the muslim followers who just close thier eyes and beleive because they born in muslim family. For God sake please open your eyes and just think about life of muhammad who served just as the purpose of lust but nothing. To marry a child of nine years is just a frustration and sickness of a human who even can have sex with any animal.THIS IS WORST THEN GUYISM!!!! Some sources say she was 9, others more authentic say she 18-19 years when married. Allah enabled me not merely to visit but to observe with my “two” open eyes & non-bias wit that a girl aged nine does not at all look a girl of nine..even biologically.)

    Abu Darda narrated that Rasool Allah said, “Should I not tell you of such a thinga which are the best and purest deeds in the court of your Lord, high in ranks (darajat), better for you then spending gold and silver (in Allah’s path), and better than slaying the neck of the enemy during war? The Sahaba said, “Yes, Oh Rasool Allah! .” He said, “It is Zikr of Allah.” (Tirmizi)

    Abu Huraira narrated that Rasool Allah said, “Any gathering in which people sit and do not do Zikr of Allah and do not send Durood upon their Prophet is of loss for them. If Allah wills, give them azab (punishment) and if wills, forgive them.” (Tirmizi)

    Abu Huraira narrated that Rasool Allah said, “Allah Tabaraka wa Ta’ala says when a person moves his lips for Zikr of Allah, I am with him. “ (Bukhari)

    Abu Huraira narrated that Rasool Allah said, “Allah Tabaraka wa Ta’ala says I am closer to my slave than his supposition of which he keeps of me. And when he/her does Zikr of Allah, I am with him/her. If he does Zikr in his heart, I do his Zikr near MY proximity (closeness) and if he does Zikr in a gathering, I mention him in a gathering Afdhal (better) than it. (Bukhari)

    Abu Musa Ash’ari narrated that Rasool Allah said, “He/She who does Zikr of Allah and he/she who doesn’t, their example is of like an alive and a dead. (Bukhari)

    Abu Huraira said that Rasool Allah said, “The angels look for those who do Zikr of Allah on the paths. When they find those who are doing Zikr of Allah then they call each other, “Come, your desired has been found.” Then those angels cover those are doing Zikr of Allah up to the skies of this world with their wings. And Allah Rabbul Izzat says about them to those angels “What are my slave doing?” Though Allah knows more than those angels. The angels say, “Those people are doing your Tasbeeh, Tahmeed, and Tamjeed.” Rab Ta’ala says, “Have they seen me?” The angels say, “We swear by your pure Entity, they have not seen you.” Rab Ta’ala says to them, “If they had seen me then what would be their state?” The angels say, “If they could’ve seen you then they would do your Tamjeed and your Tasbeeh even more.”

    Rab Ta’ala says, “What slaves are asking from me?” The angels say, “They are asking for Jannat from you.” Rab Ta’ala says, “Have they seen Jannat?” The angels say, “We swear by Your Pure Entity, they have not seen Jannat.” Rab Ta’ala says, “If they had seen Jannat then what would be their state?” The angels say, “If these people had seen jannat then their greed, desire, and inclination for it would increase. Rab Ta’ala says, “What else are they doing?” The angels say, “They are seeking refuge.” Rab Ta’ala says, “From what are they seeking refuge?” The angels say, “They are seeking refuge from Hell.” Rab Ta’ala says, “Have they seen Hell?” The angels say, “Oh Rab, we swear by Your Pure Entity, they have not seen it.” Rab Ta’ala, “If they had seen it then what would be their state?” The angels say, “If they had seen it then they would run even further away from it and fear it even more.

    Rab Ta’ala says, “angels, Be witnesses that I have forgiven them.” An angel says, “There is one person amongst them who is not part of those who do Zikr, he is there for some necessity of his/her.” Rab Ta’ala says, “These are such people that even those sitting among them are not deprived.” (Bukhari)

    Anas narrated that Rasool Allah said, “When you pass by gardens of paradise, eat fruits of them. The Sahaba said, “What are the gardens of Paradise?” He said, “The gatherings of Zikr.” (Tirmizi)

    Abu Huraira narrated Abu Saeed Khudri said that Rasool Allah said, “Whenever a Jama’at (a group of people) sits for Zikr of Allah, the angels surround it. Blessing covers that Jama’at. And peace and calm descends on them. And Allah mentions them to the angels present in HIS court. (Muslim)

    Ameer Muaviah narrated that the Rasool Allah passed by a Jama’at and asked them, “Why have you gathered here?” Some people of the Jammat replied, “We have gathered here for the Zikr and Hamd of Allah because by guiding us towards Islam He did favor on us. Rasool Allah said, “By Allah, have you gathered only for this (purpose)?” They said, “By Allah, we have gathered here only for such purpose. Rasool Allah said, “I did not give you oath because of any imputation (doubt) rather it is because Jibraeel came to me and told me that Allah Azzawajal boasts of you in the gathering of the angels. (Muslim)

    Abdullah Bin Abbas narrated that Rasool Allah said, “The Shaitan sticks to the heart of the child of Adam. When he does Zikr of Allah, he (the Shaitan) runs away from him. And when the child of Adam becomes careless from the Zikr of Allah, the Shaitan begins to put was-wasah (evil suggestions) into his heart. (Bukhari)

    Abdullah Bin Umar narrated that Rasool Allah said, “Don’t have a conversation [without] Zikr of Allah. Because talking too much without Zikr of Allah is the reason for the heart’s hardness and wretchedness. And that person becomes distant from Allah in whose heart there is wretchedness. (Tirmizi)

    Abudullah Bin Bisr narrated that one person asked, “Ya Rasool Allah! There are many commands on me of Islam. Tell me of such a thing which I may hold on to steadfast. Rasool Allah replied, “Always keep your tongue wet from Zikr of Allah.” (Tirmizi)

    Abdullah Bin Bisr narrated that a villager came to the Holy Court of Rasool Allah and asked, “Which man is the best?” Rasool Allah said, “It is the luck and good-fortune of that person whose life is long and his deeds are good.” He asked, “Ya Rasool Allah! Which deed is the best?” Rasool Allah said, “Your tongue be wet from Zikr of Allah when you part from this world. (Tirmizi)

    Muaaz bin Jabal narrated that Rasool Allah said, “The people of Jannat will only regret that moment which had been empty of Zikr of Allah.” (Beheqi)
