Movable Type Upgrade
I have upgraded to Movable Type 3.32 and have made modifications to run it natively with Unicode. I like some of the new features (better Unicode support and tags). If there are any problems due to the upgrade, drop me a line.
The Rock : A Tale of Seventh-Century Jerusalem
The Rock is a combination of history and imagination. It is fiction but uses historical events and places to weave a great tale. I think Makiya succeeds in creating an overall legend and myth for the Rock in Jerusalem.
Oldboy
Oldboy is a revenge thriller. A man is kidnapped, imprisoned for 15 years and then released. Then he looks for his kidnapper and why he was kidnapped. It is an interesting movie. I rate it 6/10 as I foresaw the plot twist.
Liberty or Death
Liberty or Death by Patrick French is one of the few books on Indian independence that is not anti-Jinnah. Its portrayal of Jinnah and Mountbatten is realistic. I recommend it to anyone interested in the partition of India and Pakistan.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
This movie is probably one of the best Jack Nicholson movies. He acts as a criminal who pretends to be mad and is sent to a mental institution. I rate it 7/10.
Amicalola, Cloudland, Johns Mountain
Here are some photographs from our hikes in North Georgia. In the spring, we went to Amicalola falls, Johns Mountain and Cloudland Canyon. All are very scenic and fun to hike. Even Michelle hiked for part of the trail.
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is a classic Spaghetti Western. While I enjoyed the movie, the print restoration job wasn’t very good and at times it looks washed up. Overall, I rate it 8/10.
You Are On Notice
Stephen Colbert has his On Notice board. Now you can have one too. Here is mine.
Thank You for Smoking
We saw this movie in the theater. It is a good satirical comedy about a tobacco industry lobbyist who can spin anything to his clients’ favor. I rate it 8/10.
